Democrat Senator Break With Biden and Democrats on Immigration, Calls for Wall and More

Democrat Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) is breaking with President Joe Biden and congressional Democrats on immigration.

Manchin said during an interview last week that there not only is an immigration crisis, particularly at our southern border, but the United States needs to build the wall and do a lot more to secure the border, The Daily Wire reports.

The remarks made by Manchin came during an interview on Fox News with Bret Baier. Manchin was specifically responding to Vice President Kamala Harris’s claim that the border is “secure.”

Manchin said Kamala Harris was “dead wrong.”

He told Baier, “It’s wrong. She’s dead wrong on that. And I have said this… If we don’t secure it — I voted every time for the wall. But we need the wall and a lot more — technology, more agents. The 2013 immigration bill was still the best piece of legislation I think that we have ever had before us. We couldn’t get it passed through the Republican House at that time because of some politics involved there.”

He continued, “And they — the amnesty, people were shouting the word amnesty… That piece of legislation would have corrected everything we have going wrong. But, for anybody — the vice president, president, anybody — to say our borders are secured, that is not accurate. I have been there. It’s wrong.”

A recent letter from the Arizona Sheriff’s Association criticized the Biden administration for its attitude toward illegal immigration and expressed a lack of confidence in Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Chris Magnus.

Manchin was recently stabbed in the back by the Democrats after a deal he made with Schumer to pass the “Inflation Reduction Act” was scuttled by Democrats in the House breaking the news to Manchin that they would not support reforms to the oil and gas permitting process.
