Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (D-NY), the chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, blasted Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) in an interview with The New York Times on Thursday, following his defeat in this week’s midterm elections.
Maloney jokingly blamed the media for Democrats losing U.S. House seats in deep blue New York before admitting that Governor Kathy Hochul harmed down-ballot Democrats.
“The last time I ran into A.O.C., we were beating her endorsed candidate two to one in a primary, and I didn’t see her one minute of these midterms helping our House majority.” Maloney said.
“So, I’m not sure what kind of advice she has, but I’m sure she’ll be generous with it. But let’s be clear, she had almost nothing to do with what turned out to be an historic defense of our majority. Didn’t pay a dollar of dues. Didn’t do anything for our frontline candidates except give them money when they didn’t want it from her.” He continued.
“There are other voices who should be heard, especially when suburban voters have clearly rejected the ideas that she’s most associated with, from defunding the police on down.” He added.
Ocasio-Cortez reacted fast to the interview, saying without proof that Maloney courted her for contributions to swing district candidates.
AOC went on to blast Maloney for what she seemed to believe was his general incompetence.
Maloney himself lost on election night to Michael Lawler, in what amounted to a massive loss to for the Democratic party.

“Chef Boy-ar-dee” Maloney needed help after he shot off his mouth, but I doubt even AOC’s would have made a difference after that.
