During a weekend interview, former president Donald Trump reportedly said that his strategy for ending the conflict in Ukraine in a single day included threatening to provide Ukraine with “more” weaponry “than they ever got” if Russian President Vladimir Putin does not immediately agree to a negotiated end to the conflict.
On Sunday morning, Trump made the comments in an interview with Maria Bartiromo for Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures.”
Trump was questioned by Bartiromo on how, in just a day, he planned to put an end to Russia’s war in Ukraine.
Trump began by calling Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, “very honorable.”
“I know Zelensky very well, and I know Putin very well, even better. And I had a good relationship, very good, with both of them. I would tell Zelensky, no more. You got to make a deal. I would tell Putin, if you don’t make a deal, we’re going to give him a lot. We’re going to them more than they ever got if we have to. I will have the deal done in one day. One day.” Trump said.
Trump’s comments generated a strong response from conservatives, many of them critical:

I’m knocked out by this—and the Trump policy team and the MAGA influencer brigade must be scrambling to make sense of it.
In order to end the war, Trump commits to following the Lindsay Graham and Neocon policy of arming Ukraine to the teeth.
That’s exactly what’s happening… https://t.co/gUzVdzRCTC
