New Poll Shows DeSantis Leading Trump Nationally

According to a recent survey of 1,500 U.S. adult citizens conducted from November 13 to 15, Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis leads former President Trump.

The broad study addressed participants about particular political topics, midterm election outcomes, Elon Musk, individual politicians, and the 2022 World Cup.

The study, commissioned by The Economist and YouGov, asked respondents to select between Trump and DeSantis for the Republican presidential candidacy in 2024.

Among those questioned, 39% back DeSantis, 35% are “not sure,” and 26% still support Trump.

Republican voters were virtually evenly divided, with 46% supporting DeSantis, 39% supporting Trump, and 16% undecided.

In addition, 59% of respondents said the country is “on the wrong track,” while 30% thought it is heading in the correct general direction.

Both major parties received less than half of the vote, with Democrats garnering only 42% approval while Republicans earned a paltry 40%.

Joe Biden and Donald Trump had nearly similar ratings from their respective parties.

Fifty-four percent of respondents believe the United States is already in a recession.

Half of those polled anticipated gas prices to rise in the next six months.

The most significant problems cited by respondents were thought to be inflation and prices, with employment and the economy coming in second.

The survey doesn’t bode well for former President Trump, who has taken significant criticism in recent days over the major underperformance of candidates he backed in the midterm elections.
