REPORT: Kamala Even Came up Short Among Women Voters

Vice President Harris’s strategy of capitalizing on a surge in female support was reportedly unsuccessful, as signs that a historic gender divide could emerge on Election Day were not realized, an outcome which turned out to be a massive disaster for the Harris campaign.

For the third consecutive cycle, Trump secured the support of white women, and the former president also gained the support of young women and Latina voters.

According to Edison Research, Trump’s margins with Latina women in 2020 were enhanced by eight points. Additionally, Trump’s popularity among young women increased by 11 percentage points in comparison to the previous cycle.

Although Haris secured the support of women, Trump’s victories among the voting cohort have Democrats in a state of disarray as they attempt to comprehend the errors that occurred on Election Night.

Republicans consistently invoked the argument that women are frequently the financial gatekeepers for their families in the months leading up to Election Day, anticipating that a significant portion of the electorate would prioritize the economy in the face of high inflation.

On the other hand, Democrats prioritized abortion access in order to inspire women, portraying Harris’s campaign as a struggle for fundamental freedoms.

Additionally, Democrats acknowledge that their economic messaging was significantly flawed, a situation that many attribute to President Biden.

Harris sought to optimize the participation of female voters, who have historically supported Democratic presidential candidates.

In recent cycles, former President Obama, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and Biden all achieved double-digit victories in the demographic.

The Democrats anticipated that the issue of abortion access would serve as a significant motivator for women. The most significant issue for 19 percent of all women was abortion, while 42 percent of women under the age of 30 expressed the same sentiment, according to preliminary exit poll data from ABC News.

However, the issue did not inherently result in voter support for Harris, despite the fact that voters were undoubtedly concerned.

According to Edison, President Biden reduced the 11-point margin between Trump and Biden in 2020 to single digits. This cycle, exit polling conducted by NBC News indicates that Trump has increased his lead among male voters to 13 points, securing the support of a majority of white and Latino men.

Additionally, he secured approximately half of the votes of young male voters, as opposed to less than four in ten women in the same age cohort, a fact that would end up sealing Harris’s fate for good on election night.
