New Poll Shows Biden’s Approval at New All Time Low

A record low of one-third of U.S. adults express approval of President Biden’s job performance, the lowest percentage of any president in the last 15 years and for his presidency.

From January 4-8, a new ABC News/Ipsos poll found that 33% of respondents approved of Biden’s performance.

This represents a decline from the previous poll conducted in September 2023, which found that 37% of respondents approved of his performance. Biden now has a 58 percent approval rating, up from 56 percent in September.

ABC News reports that this is the lowest approval rating since 2006 to 2008, when former President George W. Bush held office.

Former President Trump, the leading Republican nominee for president, has a higher approval rating than Vice President Biden, who is standing for re-election.

In September, 48% of respondents said they approved of the manner in which Trump conducted himself as president.

However, that percentage has decreased to 41% now that respondents are “looking back” and evaluating his presidency.

The current rating of 53 percent disapproves of Trump, up from 49 percent in September.

In the survey, Biden scored 15 points higher than Trump when participants were queried about their respective levels of “honesty and trustworthiness.”

Unchanged from the previous poll conducted in May 2023, 41% of respondents said the description applies to Biden. Similarly, 26% said the description applies to Trump, a decrease from 33% in May 2023.

Biden lagged behind Trump when asked whether the candidates possessed adequate physical health and mental acuity to serve effectively; however, both candidates’ ratings declined in comparison to May of last year.

When asked about Biden, 28% of respondents say he has sufficient mental acuity, which is a decrease from 32% last year, and the same percentage say he is in satisfactory physical condition, which is also a decrease from 33% last year.

As for Trump, 47% believe he has sufficient mental acuity, a decrease from 54% in May but still a substantial improvement over Biden’s figure; 57% believe his physical health is satisfactory, a decrease from 64% in May.

The survey was conducted among 2,228 respondents and possessed a 2.5 percentage point margin of error.
