Gavin Newsom Claims Inflation Crisis is a Lie Pushed by Conservatives

This week, Democratic California Governor Gavin Newsom insinuated that the inflationary woes that the American people are experiencing during Thanksgiving are merely a conservative fabrication.

The post by Newsom featured a chart illustrating price fluctuations based on data from the Labor Department.

The chart attempted to claim that prices for peas, milk, stuffing, pie crusts, turkey, and cranberries have decreased since the previous year.

Nevertheless, inflation has only recently begun to decline following a surge in recent years.

The average cost of a Thanksgiving meal reached an all-time high last year.

Although certain items’ prices have decreased from their all-time highs last year, they remain more expensive than they were prior to the onset of the pandemic.

The average price of a Thanksgiving supper for ten people has decreased by 4.5% to $61.17 this year, from $64.05 the previous year, according to a report by the American Farm Bureau Federation.

Nevertheless, the cost of a Thanksgiving entrée this year remains 14.7% elevated compared to the $53.31 it cost in 2021, and an astounding 25% higher than the $48.91 it cost in 2019.

Additionally, Newsom asserted that the average hourly wage’s 18% increase since three years ago represents “nearly the best three-year gain in forty years.”

The escalating cost of living over the last three years, nevertheless, has prevented employees from fully appreciating their compensation increases to the extent that they had hoped.

Since the pandemic, inflation has been a significant concern for Americans, affecting the cost of foodstuffs, gasoline, and other necessities.
