Chris Christie Booed at ‘Faith and Freedom’ Event After Making Critical Remarks About Trump

Former New Jersey governor Chris Christie (R) was reportedly loudly booed on Friday after criticizing former president Donald Trump at a Faith and Freedom Coalition event. In response, he said, “You can boo all you want” to the unhappy crowd.

Christie pointed out that he was the first presidential hopeful in 2016 to support Trump and that he later led his transition team. But when he went on with his remarks, the audience yelled and jeered at him.

“Why am I running for president of the United States? I’m running because [Trump’s] let us down. He has let us down because he’s unwilling — he’s unwilling to take responsibility for any of the mistakes that were made,” Christie said.

“Our faith teaches us that people have to take responsibility for what they do. People have to stand up and take accountability for what they do, and I cannot stand by,” he continued.

Some people who had gathered at the back of the gathering to meet Christie and take pictures with him cheered loudly after his remarks.

The answer, however, highlighted how strongly pro-Trump the environment is at the event and how anti-Trump candidates like Christie may struggle with Republican primary voters who are still mainly supportive of Trump.
