Comedians Reportedly Peeved After Being Censored by CNN

It has been claimed that comedians are reportedly upset because CNN did not allow any political jokes to be made during the 2023 ceremony for the Mark Twain Award for American Comedy at the Kennedy Center.

In the middle of March, a celebration was held at the Kennedy Center to honor the lifetime achievements of comedian and writer Adam Sandler.

The event was attended by a number of A-list celebrities and comedians.

Things reportedly were not going smoothly backstage during Sandler’s award presentation, despite the fact that a large number of celebrities, including Chris Rock, David Spade, Luis Guzman, and Rob Schneider, were there.

It was said that Rock had planned to make a joke about how “romantic” it was that Donald Trump reportedly paid Stormy Daniels hush money to prevent his wife from discovering about their affair. It appears that he also intended to say that having the federal government arrest Trump would only serve to increase his popularity.

In addition to that, Dana Carvey was going to perform an impression of Donald Trump and make jokes about Nancy Pelosi, who had previously served as Speaker of the House.

The stated justification for not include the jokes is that there wasn’t enough time, although it seems as though only the jokes that made political references were omitted.

The Kennedy Center attempted to deflect criticism against CNN, and released a statement to Pagesix: “The Kennedy Center and our own producers from [production company] Done+Dusted are the sole decision-makers for what is included in both the live show and the final broadcast — not CNN.”
