Former Trump Official Forms PAC to Urge DeSantis to Enter Presidential Race

Ken Cuccinelli, a former senior official in the Trump administration and the attorney general of Virginia, has reportedly launched a super PAC with the goal of encouraging Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to declare his candidacy for the White House.

This adds to the pressure that has been put on DeSantis to run by a number of Republican officials.

On Thursday, Cuccinelli launched the campaign to draft DeSantis into the 2024 race for president by saying in a video that America’s future is Ron DeSantis.

Cuccinelli served as acting deputy Homeland Security secretary under former President Trump during Trump’s final year in office.

“I have been speaking to many grassroots conservative activists around the country who are very enthusiastic for Governor DeSantis to run for President in 2024. The energy is there, grassroots conservatives see the Governor as a leader and a fighter with a winning conservative track record who will lead the Republican Party to victory in 2024.” Cuccinelli claimed in a statement.

According to the documents, the Never Back Down PAC submitted their paperwork to the Federal Elections Commission at the end of February.

While serving in President Trump’s administration, Cuccinelli was responsible for advancing some of the government’s most restrictive immigration policies.

Cuccinelli was also an important role in the Trump administration during the time that the then-president was making steps to challenge the results of the 2020 election.

Cuccinelli, on the other hand, is coming out forcefully in support of DeSantis, who is generally anticipated to announce that he would run for president, despite any public splits that may have occurred with the previous president.

Trump started his campaign immediately after the midterm elections in 2022, and he has been attacking DeSantis on a constant basis prior to the possibility that he will enter the race.

Cuccinelli had previously served as the Attorney General of Virginia, serving from 2010 to 2014.

During his tenure, he made headlines for his opposition to the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, and for his efforts to crack down on illegal immigration.

In 2013, Cuccinelli ran for Governor of Virginia but was defeated by Democrat Terry McAuliffe.

After leaving office, he became involved in conservative political causes and worked as a commentator and radio host.

Later, in 2019, Cuccinelli was appointed as the Senior Official Performing the Duties of the Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security under the Trump administration.
