Second Republican Council Member Gunned Down A Week After Same Fate Befalls Colleague

According to local officials, a New Jersey council-member was reportedly shot and killed in his car on Wednesday.

The murder occurred only a week after a state councilwoman was assassinated in a similar manner.

According to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office, Republican New Jersey council-member Russel Heller, 51, was discovered dead via a gunshot in his car soon after 7:00 a.m. Wednesday in the parking lot of his job, local energy giant PSE&G.

Gary Curtis, 58, was named as a suspect in Heller’s killing but was discovered dead in his car only three hours later from what is believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Curtis’s apparent suicide only serves to deepen the mystery surrounding Heller’s murder.

Heller was assassinated precisely one week after Republican councilwoman Eunice Dwumfour.

Dwumfour was similarly shot and slain in her vehicle by an unnamed perpetrator.

Dwumfour’s death was only 15 kilometers apart from Heller’s.

According to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office, the two homicides are allegedly unrelated.

There was no additional information offered on the suspect, nor when or why he departed PSE&G.

As of Thursday, police have still not disclosed a possible motive for the alleged murder.
