According to a recent survey, only one-third of respondents are certain that Vice President Harris would prevail in an election if she were the Democratic presidential nominee.
A Politico/Morning Consult poll, conducted in late May and released on Wednesday, revealed that 14 percent of voters believed it was highly probable that Harris would win an election, while 20 percent believed it was somewhat probable that she would win if she were the Democratic nominee.
According to the same survey, 37% of respondents believed that it was highly unlikely that she would secure an election victory.
Harris, who is 59 years old, has previously stated that she is prepared to serve as president “if necessary.”
However, she has dismissed apprehensions regarding Biden’s qualifications to be commander in chief and has criticized Republicans for their criticisms about the matter.
According to the most recent survey, 21% of respondents expressed their preference for Harris as the Democratic presidential candidate in the event that Biden were not running.
Additionally, 10% of respondents expressed their support for Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-Calif.). Just over 40% expressed uncertainty or a lack of opinion.
It was also discovered that 42% of respondents harbor a very unfavorable opinion of Harris, which is consistent with the unfavorable rating that Biden received in the survey. 21 percent of respondents reported that they have a very favorable impression of the vice president, while 23 percent reported the same for the president.
In addition, the same poll revealed that Biden and former President Trump were polling at a similar level, with each candidate garnering 45 percent support in advance of the November rematch.
The survey was administered from May 28-29 and encompasses 3,996 registered electors. It has a margin of error of 2 percentage points.
