In an interview this week, former President Donald Trump reportedly stated that he no longer endorses a two-state solution between Israel and the Palestinians in the wake of the October 7 atrocity.
In an interview with TIME Magazine, Trump uttered the aforementioned statements in reference to Israel’s military campaign targeting the Hamas terrorist organization.
“I’m not sure a two-state solution anymore is gonna work. Everybody was talking about two states, even when I was there.” Trump stated.
“There was a time when I thought two states could work. Now I think two states is going to be very, very tough. I think it’s going to be much tougher to get. I also think you have fewer people that liked the idea. You had a lot of people that liked the idea four years ago. Today, you have far fewer people that like that idea. There may not be another idea.” he added.
Trump stated that the inculcation of anti-Israel sentiments in Palestinian children since birth renders the attainment of peace exceedingly improbable.
He further stated unequivocally that in the event of an Iranian assault on Israel, he would defend and protect the country.
In addition to Trump’s statements regarding a Palestinian state, Israeli leaders have rejected the notion on account of the evident security threat it would pose to the country.
