Suffolk University’s Thursday release of a new survey of probable Iowa Republican Caucus participants suggests that Nikki Haley, a former United Nations ambassador, may now have a substantial lead over Florida Governor Ron DeSantis just days before the the all important contest.
The 500-respondent survey, which was carried out from January 6 to 10, had a plus or minus 4.4% margin of error.
It determined the preferences of Iowa voters in the wake of the Wednesday withdrawal of former New Jersey governor Chris Christie from the race.
The survey revealed that former President Donald Trump is supported by 54% of probable caucus attendees, an enormous 32-point margin over Haley, who finished in second place with 22%.

Vivek Ramaswamy (6%), DeSantis (13%), and DeSantis (13%) completed the field.
In light of DeSantis’s campaign emphasis on the Hawkeye State—where he has canvassed all 99 counties and secured the support of Governor Kim Reynolds and social conservative leader Bob Vander Plaats—the outcomes are noteworthy.
Haley also leads DeSantis by a significant margin in New Hampshire, where the second contest of the 2024 Republican primary cycle is scheduled to take place on January 23.
