At a Sunday rally in Iowa, retired neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson officially endorsed former President Donald Trump’s bid for president in 2024.
At a campaign rally in Sioux City, Iowa, Carson, who ran for the Republican Party’s presidential nomination in 2016 and went on to serve as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development for nearly four years in the Trump administration, referred to the front-runner as having his “most confident and full endorsement.”
“Benjamin Franklin was asked in 1787 after they finished the Constitutional Convention, ‘Sir, what do we have here? A monarchy or a republic?’ He said, ‘A republic, if you can keep it.’ The way we can keep it is we can put Donald J. Trump back in office,” Carson told the crowd.
The former Republican contender denounced the border practices of the Biden administration and assured the audience that the US had a safe border under Trump.
During Biden’s three years in office, terrorists have most likely crossed the border, according to Carson.
He also praised Trump’s track record on energy, the defense of free expression, and the drops in the cost of consumer items and gasoline while in office.
Trump claimed on Truth Social that getting Carson’s support was a “great honor.”
