In a hypothetical rematch between the two party front-runners, President Biden has somewhat more support than former President Trump, but only slightly.
According to a survey by the University of Virginia’s Center for Politics, Biden would receive 52 percent of the vote against Trump’s 48 percent if the 2024 election were held today. This is a narrow 4-point margin.
50 percent of people disapproved of Biden, while 53 percent disapproved of Trump. Respondents stated that they still plan to vote partisan lines in 2024 despite the disapproval rating.
88 percent of Democratic voters said they would support Biden, while 90 percent of Republican respondents said they would support Trump, should he be selected as the GOP nominee.
Biden received a 49 percent favorable rating from independents, while Trump received a 51 percent favorable rating.
According to the poll, people who identify as liberal or conservative agree with the candidate of their party on issues, while independents tend to embrace Biden’s views on the economy and social problems.
According to the study, voters are still sharply divided about the 2020 presidential race.
Only 25% of Trump supporters think Biden won the 2020 election fairly and that it was secure and devoid of fraud.
Many respondents expressed concern about the future of democracy in America; according to the survey, 31% of voters who would support Trump believe that democracy is no longer a workable form of government and 24% of voters who would support Biden believe that other forms of government should be investigated.
2,008 registered voters participated in the survey, which ran from August 25 to September 11. The error margin is 2.2 percentage points.
