Trump’s campaign has now asked the Republican National Committee (RNC) to abandon the third debate scheduled for next month in Miami, despite reports that the former president will not attend.
“The Republican National Committee should immediately cancel the upcoming debate in Miami and end all future debates in order to refocus its manpower and money on preventing Democrats’ efforts to steal the 2024 election,” Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita, senior aides to the Trump campaign, said in a statement.
Trump has stayed away from the first two GOP debates, speaking to supporters in the Detroit area during the second one and releasing an interview with former Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson as counterprogramming for the first GOP debate in Milwaukee.
Infuriating some of his rivals, who criticized him for not on the stage with them at the second debate, the former president has cited his overwhelming lead in GOP primary polling as justification for his decision to boycott the debates.
On November 8, the RNC will hold its third debate in Miami.
Trump’s absence from the third GOP debate had already been confirmed by LaCivita to NBC News.
