NBC News reporters are reportedly upset that the network’s brand MSNBC hired the departing White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki, CNN is reporting.
The move, reporters say, tarnishes the networks reputation and has caused enough of an uproar that NBC News CEO Noah Oppenheim held an impromptu call to address the issue.
The call included a delineation between NBC in an attempt to quell the anger. The CEO reiterated that MSNBC is an opinion network and NBC is a news network and viewers recognize that.
It appears that the NBC News reporters do not see it that way and think it is harmful to their reputation.
It was reportedly not NBC’s decision to hire Psaki and the CEO told reporters to continue to do their job. Like report the news and ask questions of those in power.
This reportedly happened later in the day when NBC White House correspondent Kristen Welker asked Psaki about the ethics issues surrounding her future job and her current role as press secretary.
