Former Vice President Kamala Harris has now reportedly hinted at a potential future political run during her recent appearance at the Leading Women Defined Summit in Dana Point, California.
Following her significant defeat to Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election, Harris stated, āIām not going anywhere,ā suggesting her continued presence in the political arena.
While she did not specify a particular position she might pursue, reports indicate that Harris is contemplating a run for governor of California, especially as current Governor Gavin Newsom will be term-limited in 2026.
Harris has set a deadline for her decision by the end of summer, with several other Democrats already entering the gubernatorial race, including former California Attorney General Xavier Becerra and former Rep. Katie Porter.
During her speech, Harris spoke to the current climate of fear in the nation, alluding to the Trump administration without mentioning him directly.
She expressed concern over organizations yielding to Trumpās orders and highlighted the anxiety permeating society. āThere is a sense of fear that is taking hold in our country, and I understand it,ā she said, indicating that the issues she raised during her campaign are manifesting into reality.
As the political landscape shifts, Harris’s remarks signal her intention to remain active and possibly seek leadership roles in California’s future.
The upcoming gubernatorial race promises to be competitive, with numerous candidates already vying for the opportunity.
Harris’s experience and prominence within the party could position her as a formidable contender should she decide to enter the race for governor.
