On Saturday, Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) reportedly expressed his dissatisfaction with the Democrats’ recent decision to employ the term “weird” to describe Republicans in their campaign messages.
During a live event with The Guardian at a festival hosted by The Texas Tribune, he criticized the approach and suggested that Democrats should instead concentrate on uniting the country.
“I’m not, in candor, a fan of calling each other ‘weird’ or names. I don’t think that advanced American democracy,” Khanna said during the event.
“I think we have to — in this country, and as a party — not just win, but deserve victory. And to deserve victory means to offer a vision that is going to bring this country together with a common purpose.” he continued.
The strategy was subsequently adopted by other Democrats, and they have been focused on incorporating the term into the majority of their interviews.
The campaign was affixed the designation to a variety of sources, including Sen. JD Vance’s (R-Ohio) previous remarks on childless women and former President Trump’s rally remarks on Hannibal Lecter.
