Bill O’Reilly accused Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) of “defamation” for making a “cheap” remark about Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance, which was related to the famously debunked “couch” story.
Walz directed some jabs at Vance during a campaign rally in Philadelphia during which he made a joke referring to the fabricated story.
The attack was a reference to a story that was swiftly debunked and spread on social media, in which Vance wrote about having sex with a couch.
O’Reilly contended that “progressives” were the ones who were spreading false news on social media, and this is precisely the demographic that Walz was attempting to target.
“The get off the couch thing was defamation, and I’ve lost a lot of respect for Gov. Walz. I didn’t disrespect or respect him because I don’t know him, but a demented social media person made up a story about Sen. Vance that involved the couch. I’m not going to tell you the story because it’s obscene,” O’Reilly said.
“He knows the story was debunked. It was debunked right away. And he did it anyway.” he continued.
