RFK Jr. Tells Joke About His ‘Brain Worm’ at Convention for Libertarians

In reference to The New York Times’s reporting earlier this month that he once claimed a parasite ate a portion of his brain, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. joked about his “brain worm” while speaking to attendants at the Libertarian National Convention on Friday.

He made the remark while enumerating instances of the government’s alleged violations of the Bill of Rights.

President Kennedy’s remarks were scheduled to be delivered the day before former President Trump is scheduled to address the audience at the same event.

“Again and again, they’ve cited some pretext to suspend and volunteer — and violate our constitutional rights. There’s always a reason why, right now, the rights are an inconvenience that we can’t afford,” Kennedy said to attendees at his rally at the Washington Hilton.

“It was the Red Scare in the 1920s. It was [Sen.] Joe McCarthy in the 1950s. It was civil rights protests and the Vietnam War protesters in the 1960s. It was the war on drugs in the 1970s. It was the war on terror after 2001. And most recently, it was the COVID pandemic. Maybe a brain worm ate that part of my memory.”  he continued, jokingly.

The nephew of former President Kennedy is currently engaged in a long-shot campaign to challenge President Biden and former President Trump; however, recent polling indicates that he may end up serving as more of a spoiler.

In 2010, Kennedy experienced cognitive difficulties. Subsequently, he sought medical attention for his symptoms.

In a 2012 deposition, Kennedy claimed that a doctor had informed him that the reason a dark spot had appeared during brain imaging was because a worm was inside his brain and had consumed a portion of it before his death.

The Times reported on this deposition earlier this month.

It is the most recent development in the campaign of the long-shot presidential candidate, as Kennedy’s statements and those of his running companion have garnered peculiar headlines.

Initially, Kennedy declared his candidacy as a Democrat; however, he later abandoned that affiliation to pursue an independent candidacy.
