New Poll Shows Majority of Americans Now Against Sending More Funds to Ukraine

According to a new CNN survey issued on Friday, the majority of Americans do not want the United States to keep providing help to Ukraine as its conflict with Russia approaches the halfway point.

55% of the more than 1,200 adults who participated in the SSRS poll said Congress should not authorize extra cash for Ukraine, while 45% agreed.

The majority of Americans (51%) also agreed that the U.S. had supported the Ukrainian endeavor adequately, while 48% said more should be done.

The results represent a sharp turnaround of a CNN survey released immediately after Russia’s invasion in February 2022, which revealed that 62% of Americans wanted the U.S. to assist Ukraine more.

Cluster bombs were among the $400 million worth of weapons and equipment that the State Department said it would send to Ukraine last month.

The majority of nations in the world forbid using the bombs because they believe they are cruel owing to their high failure rates and unexploded fragments that might remain for years.

According to the study, a majority of Democrats favor arming Ukraine, compared to just 39% of independents and 30% of Republicans.

The majority of Americans, regardless of political affiliation, concur that the US shouldn’t send its own troops into Ukraine.

Only 20% of all respondents, including 19% of Democrats, 18% of Independents, and 16% of Republicans, stated they were in favor of such an increase.

Less than half of Americans (45%) and even fewer (43%) are pleased with how President Joe Biden is managing ties with Russia and the Ukraine.
