John Kirby Under Fire After Declaring That ‘LGBT’ Ideology at Core of American Foreign Policy

After stating on Tuesday that rights for LGBTQ people were a “fundamental pillar” of US foreign policy, the Biden administration’s John Kirby reportedly received a significant amount of criticism.

During a press briefing on Tuesday, the comments were made by the former spokesman for the Pentagon, who now serves as the coordinator of strategic communications for the National Security Council.

He stated that LGBTQ rights were viewed as a key component of American foreign policy under the administration of President Joe Biden because they were fundamental human rights.

“President Biden has been nothing but consistent about his belief — foundational belief — in human rights, and LGBTQ+ rights are human rights. We again, back to the earlier question, are never going to shy away or be bashful about speaking up for those rights and for individuals to live as they deem fit, as they want to live – and that’s something that’s a core part of our foreign policy.” Kirby said.
