Trump Fires Off Late-Night Election Day Posts Blasting El-Sayed, Backing Rogers

President Trump kicked off Election Day with a flurry of Truth Social posts in the early morning hours, taking aim at Democratic candidates in a final push to drive Republicans to the polls.

At 12:52 a.m. ET, Trump targeted Michigan Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed.

“Abdul El-Sayed Hates Jews and Hates Blacks. Don’t feel bad, he also Hates Whites,” Trump wrote. “Only fools would vote for him in the Michigan race for the U.S. Senate! He will, 100%, do you in!”

The post ended with a call to “VOTE FOR MIKE ROGERS,” the former Republican congressman facing El-Sayed in one of the nation’s most-watched Senate races. Trump offered no evidence for his claims.

The late-night message came after Rep. Haley Stevens, who narrowly lost the August Democratic primary to El-Sayed, endorsed Rogers on Sunday. Trump said Stevens would be welcomed into the Republican Party.

Michigan was not the only target. Trump also turned his attention to Alaska, where he floated the possibility that independent Senate candidate Dan J. Sullivan had been abducted by Democratic lawyers.

“Nobody has been able to find him,” Trump claimed.

El-Sayed, a physician and former Detroit health director, has been an outspoken critic of Israel’s military campaign in Gaza. He has accused Israel of committing genocide and has faced accusations of antisemitism over his positions on the conflict. His campaign has rejected criticism of his views on Israel.
The president has repeatedly gone after El-Sayed throughout the campaign. He has called him a “jihadist” and referred to him as “Abdul Ramadan” at rallies and online, posting about him more than 40 times, according to Roll Call.

At an Oct. 25 rally in Port Huron, Trump told supporters he was there to keep “a jihadist Muslim Brotherhood member” from becoming a U.S. senator. He also accused El-Sayed of wanting the country to adopt Sharia law. There is no evidence El-Sayed has ever been a member of the Muslim Brotherhood.

El-Sayed has dismissed the attacks as distractions and kept his campaign focused on the cost of living and health care. If elected, he would become the first Muslim U.S. senator. He has also turned Trump’s attacks on his faith back against the president.

Natalie Harp, a special assistant to the president, often posts on Truth Social on Trump’s behalf.

The early-morning posts came just hours after Trump delivered his closing midterm speech at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. Later Tuesday morning, Trump told “Fox & Friends” that the U.S. would end roughly $4 billion in annual aid to Israel, citing El-Sayed as an example of critics using the aid against Republicans.

The Michigan race has become a magnet for outside money. AIPAC and its affiliates spent heavily to back Stevens in the primary and are now spending millions to help Rogers.

With control of the Senate hanging in the balance, the Michigan contest could prove decisive. Polls across the state opened Tuesday morning.
