Megyn Kelly Criticizes Trump Family Business Dealings While Praising Administration’s Border Policies

Megyn Kelly said Wednesday that while she remains a “true fan” of President Donald Trump and his family, she is troubled by reports surrounding the financial activities of the president and his sons during his second term in office.
Speaking with Sky News Australia, Kelly said she has grown frustrated with what she described as “grifty” behavior involving the Trump family, even as she continued to praise several of the administration’s policy efforts.
Her comments followed the release of hundreds of pages of financial disclosures by President Trump this week detailing his earnings while serving in the White House.
Among the disclosures was information showing Trump brought in approximately $1.4 billion from cryptocurrency ventures, including roughly $500 million from a crypto business founded by the president alongside his sons Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump and Barron Trump.
Kelly also referenced reports concerning a U.S.-backed mining venture in Kazakhstan that could generate significant profits for Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump.
According to The New York Times, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and President Trump helped secure an agreement granting mining rights in Kazakhstan to a U.S.-backed company, Kaz Resources. The newspaper reported that within weeks of those negotiations, investors connected to Dominari Securities, a financial firm partly owned by Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, acquired a 20% stake in an entity connected to the Kazakhstan project.
The White House denied any suggestion of wrongdoing related to the agreement, while Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump denied having any involvement in the negotiations.
Kelly said the reports reminded her of the ethics questions that surrounded Hunter Biden’s overseas business dealings while former President Joe Biden was in office.
“I don’t feel great about our leaders, I’m not gonna lie,” Kelly said. “I’m disappointed with some aspects of the Trump presidency for sure, like the Iran war, that’s number one…it’s so grifty, I’m not gonna lie, it’s grifty.”
She continued by saying she has seen repeated reports concerning the president’s sons and their financial ventures.
“You know, the Trump family is grifty. There’s been like story after story about all the money his sons are making off of the government, these government contracts they’re getting, all that,” Kelly said.
Despite those criticisms, Kelly emphasized that she remains personally supportive of Trump’s sons.
“I can’t stand that stuff and I love his sons, okay? So I say this as a true fan of theirs, but I didn’t like it when Hunter Biden was doing it and I don’t like it when the Trumps are doing it,” she said.
Kelly also credited the Trump administration for pursuing policies she supported, including efforts to secure the southern border and attempts to end birthright citizenship.
“But having said all that, it’s a binary system,” Kelly said. “There’s no question Trump is reams better than that lunatic Kamala Harris would have been.”
She added that Trump “did close the border,” while also saying, “We’re not deporting everybody, but we got some,” arguing that the administration had accomplished more on deportations than the Biden administration.
Kelly also argued that Trump’s lack of ideological rigidity has created challenges during his presidency, saying political leaders often become influenced by large interest groups. She questioned whether a candidate who is entirely independent of major political and financial interests could successfully reach the White House.
Kelly’s remarks came the same day Fox News anchor Dana Perino also compared questions surrounding the Trump family’s business dealings to the scrutiny Hunter Biden faced during his father’s presidency.
“If they think this issue is not permeating across the country with people going, ‘Huh wait, what?’ They’re not exactly on the most solid ground here,” Perino said. “He did a decent job trying to get the ball down the field a little bit, and deflect, but there’s no doubt about that. It’s also the other questions. Then your children are involved in this. And if you remember, we spent a lot of time talking about Hunter Biden. Maybe his mistake was only asking for $10 million from Ukraine.”
