REPORT: Trump Set to Ban Transgenders From Girls Sports

In order to fulfill a pledge that fueled his campaign for the White House, President Trump is reportedly now getting ready to release an executive order on Wednesday that will effectively prohibit transgender girls and women from participating in female sporting activities that take place in schools and colleges.

Tomorrow afternoon, President Trump is expected to sign an order that will be titled “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports,” according to individuals who are acquainted with the subject. These individuals include a member of Congress and an official from the White House.

“This executive order restores fairness, upholds Title IX’s original intent, and defends the rights of female athletes who have worked their whole lives to compete at the highest levels,”  Mace said in a press release.

Representative Nancy Mace, a Republican from South Carolina, stated in a press release that she intends to accompany the President as he issues the order.

It was not immediately obvious what the specific provisions of the order would be, but one possibility is that the president might instruct the Education Department to interpret federal Title IX standards in such a way that they prohibit transgender girls and women from participating in female sports categories.

People who are on opposing sides of the issue have anticipated that the government will subsequently structure its policies and future rules around this interpretation, offering guidance to schools to operate in accordance with the interpretation, and investigating apparent violations.

The scope of the order has the potential to immediately impact any educational institution that gets financing from the federal government. This includes the vast majority of elementary, middle, and high schools in the United States, as well as practically all colleges.

Despite the fact that the interpretation of the Title IX clause in the Education Amendments Act of 1972 outlaws sex-based discrimination in educational activities, the meaning of that section has been vigorously debated for decades, with the majority of the debate centering on how it applies to transgender students.
