Republican Proposes Renaming Dulles Airport After Trump

This Thursday, freshman Representative Addison McDowell of North Carolina reportedly presented legislation that would rename the Dulles International Airport (IAD) (which is located close to Washington) after President Donald Trump.

In addition to Representative Guy Reschanthaler (R-Pa), Representative Brian Jack (R-Ga), Representative Riley Morre (R-West Virginia), and Representative Brandon Gill (R-Texas), Representative McDowell, who represents North Carolina’s 6th Congressional District, was the proponent of the bill on Thursday.

The name of the airport will be changed to “Donald J. Trump International Airport” if the legislation is ultimately successful in passing through Congress and is subsequently signed into law.

During the last Congress, Reschanthaler and a number of other Republicans in the House have sponsored a bill that is very similar to this one.

Other members of the Republican Party in the House of Representatives, such as Andy Ogles (Tennessee), Chuck Fleischmann (Tennessee), Paul Gosar (Arizona), Troy Nehls (Texas), Barry Moore (Alabama), and Mike Waltz, who is currently serving as Trump’s National Security Advisor, were among those who co-sponsored the legislation that was presented in the beginning of April of the previous year.

John Foster Dulles, who served as Secretary of State during the Eisenhower administration, was the inspiration for the naming of the Dulles.

It may be found in Virginia, approximately 31 kilometers west of Washington, DC.
