On Wednesday, President-elect Donald Trump reportedly criticized California Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom for his ineffective management of the state’s resources.
He stated that Newsom is responsible for the magnitude of the flames that had rapidly spread throughout Los Angeles County over the course of the past twenty-four hours.
“Governor Gavin Newscum refused to sign the water restoration declaration put before him that would have allowed millions of gallons of water, from excess rain and snow melt from the North, to flow daily into many parts of California, including the areas that are currently burning in a virtually apocalyptic way.” Trump wrote.
“He wanted to protect an essentially worthless fish called a smelt, by giving it less water (it didn’t work!), but didn’t care about the people of California. Now the ultimate price is being paid. I will demand that this incompetent governor allow beautiful, clean, fresh water to FLOW INTO CALIFORNIA! He is the blame for this. On top of it all, no water for fire hydrants, not firefighting planes. A true disaster!” he added.
Due to the fact that the fires have consumed thousands of acres in a number of different locations, it was ordered that up to 80,000 people had been evacuated around the region.
The Palisades Fire, which was the primary fire, quickly spread to well over 3,000 places over a span of just a few hours.
The Eaton Fire, which consumed more than 2,000 acres by Wednesday morning, the Hurst Fire in Sylmar, which is located in the San Fernando Valley, which consumed more than 500 acres by Tuesday night, and the Woodley Fire, which was a small fire that only burned a couple dozen acres and was quickly contained, were the three other fires that broke out in and around Los Angeles County.
There were well over a thousand buildings that were demolished.
Officials are concerned that the worst is yet to come, since there are well over 15,000 buildings that are at risk of being destroyed.
As of Wednesday AM local time, there were approximately 300,000 individuals who were without electricity.
