Dr. Scott Gottlieb Takes Aim at RFK Jr., Warns His Ideas Will ‘Cost Lives’

Scott Gottlieb, who served as the commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) during the first term of President-elect Trump, reportedly voiced his worries with the selection of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to run the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) due to Kennedy Jr.’s stance against vaccinations.

“I think if RFK follows through on his intentions, and I believe he will, and I believe he can, it will cost lives in this country,” Gottlieb said during a recent CNBC appearance.

“You’re going to see measles, mumps and rubella vaccination rates go down, and like I said, if we lose another 5 percent [of vaccinations], which could happen in the next year or two, we will see large measles outbreaks,” he continued.

Many people are concerned that Kennedy, who would need to be confirmed by the Senate in order to become the Secretary of Health and Human Services, may increase vaccine reluctance among children, despite the fact that he has promised not to remove immunizations from kids.

A “resurgence” in infectious illnesses like measles, polio, and whooping cough is not something that Gottlieb believes President Trump would want to see, according to Gottlieb.

On the other hand, he pointed out that the nation’s medical professionals are not equipped to offer patients with diagnoses for diseases that have been mostly absent for several decades.

This could increase if the number of people who receive vaccines decreases.

Following his departure from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2019, the physician who joined the board of directors of Pfizer issued a warning that Kennedy could potentially boost the spread of infectious illnesses with the “stroke of a pen.”

He did, however, underline that there is a possibility that some members of the Republican Party do not agree with Kennedy’s political stance, which could prevent his confirmation to run the health department.

Gottlieb, however, praised Trump’s selection of Mehmet Oz to lead the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
