Bill O’Reilly declared JD Vance the victor of the vice presidential debate on Tuesday night, commending the Republican for accomplishing an accomplishment that former President Donald Trump “never accomplishes”: he managed to appear “human.”
On Tuesday, O’Reilly joined NewsNation to provide post-debate coverage.
“I fell asleep twice,” O’Reilly said.
The former Fox News presenter was generally unimpressed with the CBS News event.
O’Reilly accused both candidates of evading a number of policy inquiries and characterized them as “okay.”
He did contend that Vance outperformed Tim Walz and was more suitable for his ticket, asserting that he appeared “human” and “accessible.”
“What JD Vance accomplished is he made himself human, unlike Donald Trump, who never does that. And he made himself accessible — I hate that word, but it’s a trendy word now — in the sense that you could go up — and I interviewed Vance a few weeks ago, and he answered all the questions because I don’t allow anybody to dodge on my program, No Spin News. They are not allowed to dodge. I will come in and crush them. So we don’t have that problem but tonight Vance did his ticket more good than Walz did his ticket.” O’Reilly said.
O’Reilly joked that he would invite the vice presidential candidate to Thanksgiving dinner, but he might be too “tedious” to remain for dessert.
He also offered some minor praise for Walz.
“Walz wasn’t bad. He looks like a guy that I’d invite to Thanksgiving dinner. I don’t think I’d give him dessert. I’d get him out of there because he’d get a little tedious, but he can have an entree and an appetizer. I’d like to talk to him.” he concluded.
