Sen. Joe Manchin (I-W.Va.) has now reportedly endorsed former Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R) and his campaign for the U.S. Senate seat in Maryland, stating that he is the “perfect candidate” for the position.
Manchin, a former moderate Democrat who filed as an independent this year, expressed enthusiasm for Hogan’s campaign and its commitment to moderate politics during this election cycle.
Manchin, who was speaking from Hagerstown, Maryland, stated that Hogan will not be susceptible to “any ideology or political party.”
“Forget about being a Democrat or Republican. Larry Hogan is just the right person with the right attitude for the job.” Manchin said.
Throughout his campaign, Hogan has positioned himself in the middle, particularly with respect to abortion, where he has identified himself as a “pro-choice” individual.
In addition, he provoked the ire of former President Trump by asserting that Americans should “respect” the guilty verdict in his New York hush money case.
In the Senate election, the former governor is competing against Angela Alsobrooks, the Executive of Prince George’s County (D).
Hogan was discovered to be five points behind Alsobrooks in recent polling. However, a greater number of electors continue to endorse Alsobrooks’s campaign, despite the fact that Hogan has high favorability ratings and is well-known.
