According to a new poll released on Wednesday, Vice President Harris and former President Trump are virtually deadlocked in the critical blue wall state of Wisconsin.
In the Marquette Law School survey of registered voters in Wisconsin, which was conducted from July 24-Aug. 1, shortly after President Biden ended his reelection bid and endorsed Harris, Trump holds a 50 percent to 49 percent lead over Harris in a two-way race.
However, the percentages were reversed among likely voters in Wisconsin, with Harris taking the lead in a two-way race, 50 percent to 49 percent.
Harris receives the most significant advantage from a multi-candidate campaign that encompasses Independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Libertarian candidate Chase Oliver, Green Party candidate Jill Stein, and others.
In a multi-candidate matchup among registered voters in Wisconsin, Harris led Trump by 2 points, 45 percent to 43 percent, reversing the 1-point lead Trump had in the two-way race.
Oliver and Stein each received one percent, while Kennedy received eight percent. That threshold was not achieved by any other candidate.
In a multi-candidate election, Harris maintained her 1-point lead among likely voters: Trump received 45%, Kennedy received 6%, Oliver received 1%, and Stein received 1%.
A poll conducted prior to the Biden-Trump debate in June revealed that Biden’s recent performance in a head-to-head match-up against Trump was 1 point stronger than Harris’s recent performance among both registered voters and likely voters.
Biden and Trump received 50% of the support of registered voters in Wisconsin. Biden maintained a two-point advantage over Trump among prospective voters in Wisconsin, with 51 percent to 49 percent.
Wisconsin is one of the critical swing states that both candidates consider to be essential for winning the election in November.
The survey had a margin of error of 4.6 percentage points and included 877 registered electors. The sample consisted of 801 likely electors, with a margin of error of 4.8 percentage points.
