Karl Rove, a Republican strategist, stated that former President Trump must reclaim control of the campaign narrative, as he is now in a “subordinate role” in comparison to Vice President Harris.
During an interview with Neil Cavuto of Fox News on Saturday, Rove delineated the actions that both Trump and Harris must take to strengthen their campaigns in the upcoming weeks.
“I think the attitudes by Labor Day are going to be really important. So she needs to come blowing out of that convention in Chicago and showing big crowds and lots of enthusiasm,” Rove said.
“He has difficulties too. And he’s got [to] frame Harris. He’s got to find the right message to go after her because, as Lucas said, we’ve got 101 days as of today, then he’s got to get back in control of the dialogue,” he continued.
“He is clearly in a subordinate role here. He feels uncomfortable with it, I suspect, and he likes being the guy who’s setting the tempo of the campaign. And that’s not happening,” he added.
He stated that the week following the Democratic National Convention will be “critical” for Harris and that she must “frame herself” and determine how she will attack Trump prior to the general election.
Harris has been the subject of much attention in the past week as a result of President Biden’s withdrawal from the election and his endorsement of her.
In the initial week of her campaign, she raised over $200 million in an effort to rouse the enthusiasm of Democratic voters.
The Harris campaign and Democrats have received favorable results in early polls following Biden’s withdrawal from the contest. Certain national polls indicate that Harris and Trump are in a tight race.
