Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., reportedly stated that for the impeachment of President Biden to be successful in the Senate, House Republicans must “not waste time” and provide a “ironclad” case.
On Tuesday, Tuberville added his voice to the clamor of Republican senators who are questioning the House GOP’s impeachment investigation.
“You don’t bring a vote to the floor unless you are pretty sure that you can get the amount of votes that you need. I know that wouldn’t make it to anywhere over here in the Senate. That probably wouldn’t even — wouldn’t even let it make it to the floor. But again, this is all up to the House. We got enough problems going on right now.” Tuberville said during a recent appearance on ‘Meet the Press.’
He expressed hope that at least the House would learn the truth about the claims of abuse of power and corruption against the president.
He claimed that the Senate “couldn’t get the votes” to convict Biden in an impeachment trial.
Speaking on behalf of House Republicans, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy stated on Tuesday that they have “uncovered serious and credible allegations into President Biden’s conduct” that would form the basis of an impeachment investigation.
The accusations against Biden center on the president’s participation in his son Hunter Biden’s international business operations and whether Joe Biden’s family profited personally from his public post.
According to the speaker, the investigation will be led by House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., together with House Oversight Committee Chairmen Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, and Jason Smith, R-Mo.
