Former President Trump is now claiming that he was correct the entire time about the COVID-19 virus escaping from a facility in Wuhan, and as a result, he is now reportedly demanding that China be punished for its part in the epidemic caused by COVID-19.
After the United States Department of Energy came to the conclusion with “low confidence” that the lab-leak theory was the most likely explanation for where the virus came from, the former president and declared candidate for the White House in 2024 took credit for being right about the theory in a campaign video that was released on Friday.
He claimed that he was right about the theory.
Although opponents have accused the Chinese leadership of stonewalling efforts to discover the origins of the virus, Republicans are demanding that China explain for its behavior during the outbreak and are demanding that China be held accountable for its actions.
Last week, during a hearing in the House of Representatives, Dr. Jamie Metzl urged members of Congress to open a comprehensive investigation into the subject.
Democrats have now also demonstrated an interest in uncovering the truth about COVID-19, despite the fact that they are far more reticent to support the laboratory-leak explanation.
Legislation to require the director of national intelligence under the Biden administration to declassify all intelligence related to the Wuhan Institute of Virology and any possible links to the origins of the COVID-19 virus was also recently approved by both the House of Representatives and the Senate with an overwhelming majority vote.
These votes were taken after it was discovered that an evaluation from the Energy Department had been included in a top-secret document pertaining to 2021 that had been modified by the office of the Director of National Intelligence, Avril Haines.
Trump did not provide any specifics of the methods he would use to hold China accountable if he were to win the presidency once more.
