Judge Refuses to End Finding of Contempt Against Trump

A New York judge isn’t buying it.

After finding President Trump in contempt of court for failing to turn over requested documents to the New York Attorney General, the judge denied a motion by the former President to explain that he has satisfied the requirements, The Wall Street Journal reports.

The case involves an investigation into Trump’s business dealings particular whether or not Trump defrauded lenders and the government by over or undervaluing his assets.

“This court finds that Mr. Trump has not yet purged his contempt,” Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron wrote.

Trump is currently being fined $10,000 per day after the judge found that Trump’s attorneys had not done a complete search for documents requested.

Trump’s lawyer, Alina Habba, argued that the judge ignored the “meticulous efforts undertaken” to locate relevant documents and “reduced this hearing to the likes of a public spectacle.”

Trump will be appealing the order.
