O’Reilly Says He’s Recovering After Illness, Thanks Supporters and Plans Return

Former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly said Friday that he is recovering from what he described as “stomach stuff,” offering reassurance to viewers after revealing earlier in the week that he was dealing with an unspecified illness.

O’Reilly shared the update on his website after missing a scheduled appearance Tuesday on NewsNation’s “CUOMO” and temporarily stepping away from his nightly “No Spin News” broadcast. In his message, O’Reilly said he was feeling better and expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support he received while being treated at a medical facility in New York City.

“Amazing good wishes have arrived here in New York City, and it’s hard to describe my gratitude,” O’Reilly wrote. He added that he was already working on plans for his return to broadcasting and trying to stay busy while recovering.

O’Reilly joked about his situation, saying he was “planning a jail break out of the medical facility,” noting that several Concierge Members were also there. He quipped that if USA Today were to find him, “I’m toast,” and added that there was little to do while recuperating aside from watching what he described as over-the-top local television coverage about snow being blamed on global warming.

Despite the humor, O’Reilly made clear that he is focused on getting back to work. He said he is preparing his first broadcast back and plans to provide another update on Sunday to keep viewers informed of his progress.

O’Reilly hosts “No Spin News” on weeknights and remains a regular presence on NewsNation. He is widely known for his long tenure as the host of Fox News’ “The O’Reilly Factor,” which for years was one of the most-watched programs in cable news.

Fox News terminated O’Reilly’s contract in April 2017 following multiple sexual harassment allegations, which O’Reilly has consistently denied. At the time, he said the decision to part ways was deeply disappointing and maintained that the accusations were unfounded.

“It is tremendously disheartening that we part ways due to completely unfounded claims,” O’Reilly wrote in a statement after his firing. He added that being subjected to such allegations was an unfortunate reality for public figures.

Since leaving Fox News, O’Reilly has continued to build an audience through his independent media ventures, including “No Spin News,” where he offers commentary on politics and current events.

The 76-year-old commentator has also maintained a long-standing relationship with President Donald Trump. O’Reilly has appeared publicly with Trump on several occasions, including at a New York Yankees game on Sept. 11, 2025.

Friday’s update appeared designed to reassure supporters that his condition is improving and that his absence from the airwaves is temporary. While O’Reilly did not provide medical details, his message struck an upbeat tone and suggested he expects to resume his broadcasting schedule soon.

For his loyal audience, the update offered both clarity and confidence that O’Reilly remains engaged and eager to return, even as he continues to recover.
