President Donald Trump has now reportedly launched a fierce attack against Democrats, branding them as “stone cold CRAZY” and “Radical Left SleazeBags” for what he claims is an attempt to manipulate the Supreme Court as it hears a critical case related to his immigration policies.
The Supreme Court began oral arguments on Thursday regarding a significant executive order aimed at ending birthright citizenship for children born in the United States to non-citizen parents.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump expressed his frustration, accusing Democrats of “playing the ref” to influence the Court’s decision.
He stated, “The Radical Left SleazeBags, which has no cards remaining in its illegal bag of tricks, is… PLAYING THE REF with regard to the United States Supreme Court.”
Trump’s rhetoric reflects a broader strategy as he seeks to galvanize his base ahead of upcoming elections.
The executive order in question, issued in January, has sparked considerable legal debate. While the 14th Amendment guarantees citizenship to “all persons born or naturalized in the United States,” Trump’s legal team is sidestepping this constitutional question.
Instead, they are urging the justices to limit the power of lower courts, particularly regarding federal judges’ ability to issue nationwide injunctions that block the administration’s policies.
So far, three federal judges have halted the implementation of the policy, deeming it legally indefensible.
The Trump administration argues that these sweeping injunctions impede the president’s ability to govern effectively and has called on the Supreme Court to restrict their scope.
During the oral arguments, liberal justices expressed concerns that removing nationwide injunctions could lead to a chaotic landscape of varying legal standards across states.
In contrast, some conservative justices appeared open to the idea of narrowing the scope of such injunctions.
A ruling is anticipated by early July, which could have significant implications for immigration policy and executive power.
Trump’s approval ratings have recently seen a rebound, fueled by a decline in public concerns over the economy. As fears of a recession diminish, his supporters may be rallying behind his contentious immigration stance.
The president’s confrontational approach and his ability to frame the narrative around the Supreme Court’s deliberations could further energize his base.
As the Supreme Court deliberates, the stakes are high for both Trump and the Democrats.
The outcome of this case may not only reshape immigration policy but also influence the political landscape as both parties prepare for the next electoral cycle. With tensions running high, the Supreme Court’s decision will undoubtedly be a pivotal moment in Trump’s ongoing battle against perceived political adversaries.
