REPORT: Trump to Visit Key Middle Eastern Allies in First Trip Since Term Began

President Donald Trump is now reportedly set to embark on his first Middle East trip of the term, visiting Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates from May 13 to May 16.

The White House announced the trip, highlighting Trump’s intention to strengthen ties with these nations through a series of bilateral meetings.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt emphasized the importance of this visit, stating that it aims to foster closer relations between the U.S. and its Gulf partners.

Originally, this trip was meant to be Trump’s first foreign visit of the term, but he will first attend Pope Francis’ funeral in Rome later this week.

This diplomatic mission comes as Trump seeks new international agreements amid a pause on tariffs, signaling a deepening relationship with Gulf countries.

In March, he revealed that Saudi Arabia has committed to investing $1 trillion into the U.S. economy over four years. Trump remarked, “I made a deal with Saudi Arabia… they’ve agreed to do that.”

Additionally, the UAE has pledged $1.4 trillion toward American investment in energy, manufacturing, and technology over the next decade.

This initiative is expected to significantly boost the UAE’s existing investments in critical sectors like AI infrastructure and semiconductors.

Trump’s previous term saw strong relations with Gulf states, culminating in the Abraham Accords, which normalized relations between Israel and several Arab nations, including the UAE and Bahrain.

The current geopolitical climate, particularly the ongoing conflict involving Israel, has made further negotiations more challenging, but Trump’s administration remains hopeful about expanding these accords to include Saudi Arabia.
