Trump Shreds Zelensky, Claims He ‘Has No Cards’ in Negotiations

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, reportedly expressed his disapproval of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday, stating that he did not believe it was necessary for Zelensky to participate in negotiations over the conflict in Ukraine.

Despite the fact that Trump admitted in an interview with Brian Kilmeade of Fox News Radio that Russia had attacked Ukraine, he continued to insinuate that former President Biden and Zelensky shared guilt for their failure to talk down Moscow.

“I’ve been watching for years, and I’ve been watching him negotiate with no cards. He has no cards. And you get sick of it.” Trump said of Zelensky.

“So, I don’t think he’s very important to be at meetings, to be honest with you. He makes it very hard to make deals.” Trump added.

According to Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin was interested in reaching a compromise to bring an end to the conflict in Ukraine.

Specifically, he asserted that Putin did not necessarily need to negotiate a ceasefire because he would be able to obtain “the whole country” if he so desired.

This came after Russia demanded that Ukraine be prevented from ever joining NATO.

The war began nearly ten years after Russia’s annexation of Crimea from Ukraine in 2014.

Trump has referred to Zelensky as a “dictator without elections,” and also stated that he was performing a “terrible job,” and made a suggested that it was Zelensky who initiated the conflict with Russia.

Earlier this week, officials from the Trump administration met with officials from Russia in Saudi Arabia to begin initiating discussions for the cessation of the war.

Earlier, Zelensky had voiced his dissatisfaction with the fact that Ukrainian officials were not participating in the conversations.

Officials from the Trump administration have been advocating for Ukraine to embrace a deal that would provide the United States with a share in Ukraine’s rare mineral supply.

They have argued that the economic arrangement would create an incentive for the United States to provide security guarantees for Kyiv.

According to Zelensky, the idea was presented to him the previous week with very little warning or opportunity to evaluate the prospective business arrangement, hence his decision to reject it, much to the chagrin of the Trump administration.
