Karoline Leavitt, the press secretary for the White House, reportedly made a scathing attack on media outlets and Democrats on Wednesday, accusing them of attempting to incite a conflict between individuals working for the Trump administration by misrepresenting them and spreading incorrect information.
During a press conference that took place on Thursday, a reporter inquired of Leavitt whether or not the tech giant Elon Musk, who is in charge of the audits of the federal bureaucracy that are being conducted by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), possesses the “power of the presidency.”
“Elon Musk is serving at the pleasure of the president, just like everybody else on this team. He takes directives directly from the President of the United States, and I think some of the comments that you referred to are nothing more than a failed attempt from the media and from Democrats to try to sow division in this White House,” Leavitt remarked.
“We saw them do it in the first term. We’re not going to let them do it in the second term. This is a unified team who is working at the pleasure of the president to do what’s right for the American people,” she added.
As a result of his efforts to reduce redundancy and enhance efficiency within the bureaucracy while simultaneously ensuring that spending priorities line with President Donald Trump’s agenda, Musk has been subjected to criticism from Democratic lawmakers and critics in the media.
With regard to Musk and DOGE, Trump seemed to be happy. On Tuesday, the president issued an executive order that increased Musk’s authority and permitted him to exercise a greater degree of control over the federal government.
During the signing, Musk was present in the Oval Office with President Trump and answered questions from the press.
Musk praised the job that DOGE has done and emphasized the significance of conducting audits of the federal bureaucracy during the outing.
