Over 140 Democrats Vote Against Nancy Mace’s New Bill to Deport Immigrants for Domestic Violence and Sex Crimes

On Thursday, a majority of House Democrats reportedly voted against legislation aimed at facilitating the deportation of immigrants convicted of sexual offenses or domestic violence from the United States.

The legislation, titled the “Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act,” was approved with the backing of 213 Republicans and 61 Democrats.

Additionally, 145 Democrats opposed it, while no Republicans did. Fifteen additional legislators abstained from voting.

Representative Nancy Mace (R-SC) reintroduced the proposal for the current session of Congress after her bill was approved by the GOP-led House last year but did not receive a vote in the Democrat-controlled Senate. During the previous instance, 158 House Democrats opposed the bill.

“Just walked off the floor – after HR30 passes the House for a second time – 145 Democrats have a lot of explaining to do after being given a second chance to protect women and girls from illegals who r*pe, m*lest and m*rder them,” Mace wrote on her X account.

The bill in question attempts to “amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to provide that aliens who have been convicted of or who have committed sex offenses or domestic violence are inadmissible and deportable.”

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), the ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, contended that the bill was superfluous in addressing foreign national criminals and would “retard” initiatives to safeguard victims, as it could be wielded against these survivors if they are immigrants who oppose their abusers.
