Elon Musk, the tech magnate, reportedly announced on Thursday that he will provide funding for moderate primary challenges against incumbent Democrats in districts that are predominantly blue.
“Oh … forgot to mention that I’m also going to be funding moderate candidates in heavily Democrat districts, so that the country can get rid of those who don’t represent them, like this jackass,” Musk wrote on his X platform.

The comments were made by the ally of President-elect Trump in response to a recording of a floor speech from Rep. Richard Neal (D-Mass), the ranking member of the Ways and Means Committee.
Neal criticized Musk’s threat to primary Republicans if they supported an earlier bipartisan spending proposal this week.
Musk, the co-leader of Trump’s “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE) with Vivek Ramaswamy, published numerous posts on Wednesday that critiqued a temporary spending measure that would have funded the government until March 14 and prevented a government closure.
Musk advocated for the removal of any legislator who supported the measure from office in 2026 at one point on Wednesday.
In the midst of his opposition, a flurry of House Republicans expressed their apprehensions regarding the measure.
Ultimately, Trump and Vice President-elect Vance came out against the continuing resolution by Wednesday afternoon.
The bill was torpedoed by the pressure campaign of the DOGE leaders, Trump, and Vance, which sparked discussions about Musk’s increasing influence on Capitol Hill and whether his tweets and primary threat were sufficient to sway GOP members.
