Tech mogul Elon Musk funneled a staggering $43.6 million into America PAC in the early days of October.
The hefty investment brings his total donation amount to around $118 million, according to campaign finance documents.
Musk showered America PAC with $11 million on October 4, followed by $10 million on October 9, $7.9 million on October 11, and another $14.7 million on October 15, as per Federal Election Commission (FEC) reports filed on Thursday.
In addition to Musk’s contributions, Nelson Peltz chipped in $1 million, and several members of the DeVos family, including ex-Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, also made donations.
Musk had already pledged $75 million to the PAC, which is spearheading former President Trump’s voter mobilization campaigns in critical swing states.
The America PAC made headlines for rolling out a daily $1 million prize giveaway targeting registered voters in battleground states, set to continue until election day.
Six $1 million checks have been awarded so far. The sweepstakes invites voters from seven swing states who sign the PAC’s petition advocating for free speech and gun rights.
The giveaways have drawn scrutiny from campaign finance and legal watchdogs, with a group of lawmakers pressing Attorney General Merrick Garland earlier this week to scrutinize the PAC’s monetary incentives, suggesting they might be construed as illicit voter registration payments.
That resulted in the DOJ’s Public Integrity Section sending the PAC a warning that the sweepstakes might breach a federal statute prohibiting payments in exchange for voter registration.
The sweepstakes seemed to halt on Wednesday after receiving the letter from the DOJ, but the America PAC resumed the next day with two $1 million prizes distributed to winners in Wisconsin and Michigan.
