Two Hurt at Courthouse After Improvised Explosive Device Set Off

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office has reported that two individuals sustained non-life-threatening injuries as a result of a reported detonation at the Santa Maria Courthouse in California.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff public information officer Raquel Zick announced on social media that an adult male was apprehended as a person of interest.

The detonation is believed to have been the result of an intentionally set improvised explosive device, according to authorities.

Mark Van de Camp, spokesperson for the city of Santa Maria, announced that the courthouse is closed for the day and that municipal buildings within one block of the courthouse are temporarily closed.
