Trump Announces it was His ‘Honor’ to Take a ‘Bullet’ for Democracy

Referring to an attempted assassination in Butler, Pennsylvania earlier this month, Donald Trump stated on Truth Social that it was his “great honor” to ‘take a bullet’ in the name of American democracy.

The former president claimed in a brief message on Tuesday that the administration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris did not “properly protect” him.

“The Biden/Harris Administration did not properly protect me, and I was forced to take a bullet for Democracy. IT WAS MY GREAT HONOR TO DO SO!” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

The former president’s statement was released on the same day that Kimberly Cheatle announced her resignation as the director of the Secret Service, following a fraught day of testimony before the House Oversight Committee regarding the assassination attempt.

A rally attendee was mortally shot, and Trump was grazed in the ear during the assassination attempt. Thomas Crooks, a 20-year-old shooter, was also fatally wounded after firing numerous projectiles.
