Newsom Claims There’s ‘Not a Chance’ He Replaces Biden at Top of Dem Presidential Ticket

Replacing President Joe Biden at the top of the Democratic Party ticket is something that California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) is rejecting once more, stating that there is “no daylight” between the two of them.

In a preview of an interview that aired on Friday on CBS Sunday Morning, Newsom told Robert Costa that he disregards private messages from people asking him to consider a presidential run.

The governor stated that he knows the discussions will eventually be made public, so he won’t even hold them in private.

“You’re not just a surrogate; you’re somebody who’s getting text messages and emails every day to consider running. How do you handle all of that?” Costa asked Newsom.

“Delete, delete, delete, delete. ‘Thank you,’ delete, and rinse, repeat. I’m all in. No daylight,” Newsom said.

“I know one thing: Everything you do in private becomes public. Even private thoughts seem to manifest publicly! So, not a chance,” he continued.

Long averse to having his name mentioned as a potential Biden substitute, Newsom has only become more vocal in recent weeks as detractors, including some in the Democratic Party, have begun to publicly doubt the president’s age and endurance. Biden has maintained his candidacy time and time again.
