High Profile Dem Walks Back Call for Biden to Step Down From Campaign

Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY), the ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee and a well-known member of the House Democratic caucus, reportedly changed his mind on Tuesday morning and told reporters that he would support President Joe Biden even though he was worried that the latter might not be able to defeat Donald Trump in November.

Nadler appeared resigned to the fact that Biden would not give up his position at the top of the ticket on Tuesday before attending another caucus meeting where the issue will be discussed, despite earlier reports that he was pressuring Biden to step aside during a Zoom call with other Democrats on Sunday.

“Well, yeah. He [Biden] said he’s gonna remain in, he’s our candidate, and we’re all going to support him.” Nadler said.

When asked explicitly if he thought Biden should withdraw, Nadler said no.

“Well that kind of leaves you with no choice then, I take it?” the reporter asked him.

“Well, yes. As the president said, something like 90% of Democrats voted for him in the primaries, he won the nomination.” Nadler concluded.
