Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) declared that the International Court of Justice (ICJ) of the United Nations should “go to hell” after it directed Israel to cease its military operation in Rafah, a densely populated region in southern Gaza.
The United Nations’ highest court issued a ruling on Friday that Israel must cease its offensive in Rafah; however, it lacks the ability to enforce the decision.
The ICJ’s 2022 order to cease its invasion of Ukraine was previously disregarded by Russia.
The ruling issued on Friday is a component of the increasing international pressure on Israel to cease its war in Gaza, which Palestinian health authorities claim has resulted in over 35,000 Palestinian fatalities.
This week, Ireland, Norway, and Spain announced their intention to acknowledge a Palestinian state.
Additionally, the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) is requesting arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, who are accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Graham condemned the decision to pursue the arrest of Netanyahu, Gallant, and three senior Hamas officials on Monday, calling it “outrageous.”
“This outrageous decision is truly a slap in the face to the independent judiciary of Israel, which is renowned for their independence,” Trump announced in a statement.
